Child Nutrition Programs

Hunger Free America is looking for passionate, devoted, and talented young adults to help fight child hunger during the summer.  When school lunch and children no longer have access to free and reduced lunch, the summer food service program is responsible for feeding our country’s most vulnerable kids.  Summer camps, parks, pools, and libraries across the country who participate in the program receive federal reimbursements for every summer meal they serve throughout the summer.  While this program is intended to serve every child across the country, its participation is very low in many areas.  To combat this low participation, Hunger Free America has created its Child Nutrition AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate Program (NY and CA only) and its Child Nutrition Fellowship Program (nationwide) which place young adults at Summer Meals sites and sponsors who need extra staffing to serve more kids.  If you are interested in applying to be or host one or of our VISTAs or Fellows, click on the appropriate link below to learn more.
